The weather is starting to warm up, so that means it is time to start planning your dinner parties. But, trying to create your dinner party menu is not always an easy task – you have to consider your guests food preferences, you want it to be healthy, or you’re just simply on a budget. Don’t worry I have 4 tips for you that will help you create a menu that will blow your guest away.
DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF GUEST
Knowing the number of guest you will have can help you determine the type of menu you want to serve. If you plan on having 10 people or less you may want to go with a menu that is best served plated but just about any serving style will work because it is not a large number of guests. If you plan on having 10 or more people, you want to lean towards more of menu that is self-serving: buffet or family style – which means less work for you.
Get some inspiration from your favorite recipes, Pinterest, Instagram, magazines or your favorite food/cooking shows for creating your menu. Here is a simple tip – Find one dish that you love and create your menu around it.
HAVE A VARIETY
Having a menu with variety will help take some of the pressure off of you. One way that can be done is by having food bars – all you have to do is create the main elements and then allow your guests to be hands-on and creative at the same time; creating a unique experience for each of your guests. You can create variety by having a balance of cold/hot dishes or sweet/savory dishes. Another way to have a menu with variety is to build it around a party theme.
BE SEASONAL AND COLORFUL
Creating a menu that is built around the seasons will help you have a well-rounded menu for your guest. Your focus will be on just what is in season, which will make your shopping experience less stressful. And since we all tend to eat with our eyes – think of dishes that can add that pop of color to your menu. Quick tip – Buying seasonal will keep money in your pockets
